Asthi Visarjan refers to the immersion or scattering of the ashes (Asthi) of a deceased person into a sacred body of water, usually a river, sea, or lake. It is believed that by performing Asthi Visarjan, the soul of the departed individual is liberated from the cycle of rebirth and attains Moksha (salvation).
